Procedure Details

The patient had concerns of decay and aesthetics of her upper right teeth. The enamel on two teeth appeared worn and brown discoloration was noted. During an exam, Dr. Patel found a moderate depth of decay. A plan was presented to the patient for composite, also known as "tooth colored" fillings for the restorations. Dr. Patel removed all decay and placed the composite fillings. Proper adjustments were made to her bite, the teeth were polished and flossing contacts were checked. The patient should maintain good home care and her teeth will be continuously examined at her routine hygiene appointments.

Technology

What is CEREC? CEREC is an acronym for … Chairside: The technology is in the dental operatory and used while you are in the chair. Economical: The procedure is economical for the patient both financially and in chair time spent. Restorations: The procedure restores your tooth to its natural beauty, function, and strength. Esthetic: The restorations are metal-free and tooth-colored. Ceramic: High-strength ceramics are used that are close in composition to your natural tooth structure. The restorative system allows the fabrication of all ceramic metal-free dental crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and veneers for natural teeth and dental implants in a single visit. This allows you to experience the highest quality, most lifelike dental restorations in just one visit to the dentist … in, out, and on with your busy life. Single-visit CEREC restorations inherently provide improved infection control as all restorations are fabricated in the facility in front of you. Dr. Sangiv I. Patel has provided patients with thousands of lasting and matching dental restorations without the inconvenience of goopy impressions, temporary restorations, or multiple appointments for almost 20 years. He has lectured, published, and served as a beta-tester, as well as an in-office trainer for CEREC technology through the years. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Patel at his office in Melbourne, FL to learn more about CEREC same-day restorations.

If you are suffering from a decayed, chipped, cracked, or broken tooth or multiple teeth, then CEREC restorations are an ideal solution for your damaged teeth. Dr. Sangiv I. Patel can also improve your smile with veneers and restore dental implants. All of this is accomplished without the need for messy physical impressions and temporary restorations. This makes CEREC restoration an ideal solution for your emergency care or as a part of the long-term comprehensive treatment plan to restore the natural strength and beauty of your mouth. Better yet, it’s done with all-ceramic, metal-free materials that are tooth-colored in a single appointment, saving you both time and hassle!

A CEREC procedure will start with a comprehensive diagnosis and consultation in which Dr. Patel will design your unique treatment plan. The process will require a digital optical scan in your mouth, a process that only takes a minute or two to complete. This scan will allow Dr. Patel to accurately design your restorations in 3D, all in your presence. From there, your restoration will be sent to the CEREC milling chamber to be robotically fabricated with high-quality ceramic materials. The amount of time needed to create your restoration will be dependent on the number of teeth along with their size. Once the restoration is fabricated, it is verified for proper fit and comfort, including size, shape, bite pattern, and esthetics. It is then finished for final shade and characterization in a computerized furnace before final cementation by Dr. Patel. Our process of integrating the intraoral camera and T-scan bite analysis (when required) ensures that the restoration is comfortable and blends in seamlessly with your natural teeth.

After your restoration is completed, it is imperative for you to maintain a good at-home oral hygiene routine. You can find more detailed information on our Patient Resource section under Dental Instructions. You should also continue to schedule your annual dental exams and biannual cleanings at our office in Melbourne, FL.
